REACH Regulation
El REACH Regulation (Regulation CE Nº 1907/2009) got its name for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. Its objective is to protect the health of people and the environment from the risks posed by the manufacture or marketing of dangerous chemical substances.
The REACH regulation applies to all the chemical substances that we use daily, aimed at both consumers and businesses, so it is a very important regulation that has a broad impact.
The REACH regulation establishes specific obligations to companies:
- Must correctly identify the dangerous substances.
- Must treat the risks posed by the manipulation of those substances and establish preventive measures for its production and handling.
- Must give instructions on how to use those substances for anyone that could manipulate the product during its life cycle.
- Obligation to adopt the necessary risk prevention measures during their production or transport.
- Communicate to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA)the substances they produce or import.

We can advise you on how to fulfill all the legal obligations and the creation of the safety data sheets for the substances you produce or market. We can also validate the risk scenarios for your products
REACH Regulation Objectives
In order to respond to this concern for the control of dangerous chemical substances, the REACH regulation establishes a series of processes detailed throughout its articles.
Substances Registry
The legal obligation is established to register all substances manufactured or imported into the European Union in quantities that are equal to or greater than one ton per year.
Risk Evaluation
All the risks that these substances may entail for human health or for the environment must be evaluated. Risks should be fixed and classified according to a system of priorities that range from highest to lowest according to the risk involved.
Authorization
When a substance classified as very dangerous is being produced or imported according to REACH regulations, it is necessary to request the corresponding administrative authorization.
Restriction
When the production or use of certain substances poses an unattainable risk to human health or the environment, said substance may be restricted and prohibited.
REACH Regulation Safety Data Sheets
The REACH regulation establishes the obligation to complete safety data sheets for each dangerous substance or mixture. The purpose of these files is to inform users of the substances (other companies, workers, etc.), so that they can prevent the risks involved in its handling, avoiding damage to health or the environment.
The Exposure Scenarios of the REACH Regulation
The exposure scenarios explain how you can control the contact of people or the environment with the substance. They try to explain situations that can occur with these substances so that they can be used safely.
An exposure scenario identifies a use or a set of uses that can occur with a hazardous substance, giving guidelines on how the product formulation should be performed, how it can be transformed or applied to control the risk.
For example, in the exposure scenario, instructions are given on how substances should be packaged in smaller packages, or how to apply said substance by spraying, rolling, etc.
