APQ (Storage of Chemical Products)
Any company, including self-employed people, that stores chemical products should do it according to some security measures, collected in what is known as Reglamento APQ (APQ Regulation). This regulation began in 1980, but since has been revised many times to improve the security based on the experience and to the modifications named ITC (Instrucciones Técnicas Complementarias, ‘Complementary Technical Instructions’) that apply to the storage of specific chemical products.
Tandem HSE has many years of experience in the design, execution and legalization of warehouses for chemical products in Spain.
By adapting a chemical products warehouse to the instructions from the current APQ regulation, you reduce, on one side, the risks of accidents that affect both people and the environment and, on the other side, you prevent problems with insurance companies in case of civil responsibility to third parties due to an unfortunate accident.
Tandem HSE offers you the possibility to leave in our capable hands the design, the adaptation and the processing for legalization of the APQ storage facilities, in accordance to the current state regulation (RD 656/2017). We can also take care of the supervision of warehouses for other products not subject to this regulation.
Our Services:
Storage of Chemical Products Projects.
Before the construction of a new plant or storage, Tandem HSE can do an initial APQ study then, based on it, proceed with the design of the facilities. We deal with the monitoring of the work in its entirety.
We take care of the tanks, pipes, equipment and civil work or we can offer you prebuilt warehouses, always following the current regulations in place.
You can also trust us to take care of the design of containment systems and the management of contaminated water resulting from the eventual fire extinction.
Installations Inspections.
All the installations and storage of chemical products of an industrial plant must be performing internal annual internal revisions according to the article 4 of the Reglamento de Almacenaje y Productos Químicos (regulation for storage and chemical products), including also periodic revisions of the fixed tanks.
The most important articles related to that are
- Article 51 “Revisiones periódicas” (“Periodic Revisions”) from ITC-APQ 1
- Article 27 “Revisiones periódicas” (“Periodic Revisions”) from ITC-APQ 6
- Article 28, 29 and 30 “Mantenimiento y Revisiones periódicas” (“Maintenance and Periodic Revisions”) from ITC-APQ 7
- Article 16 “Revisiones periódicas” (“Periodic Revisions”) from ITC-APQ 10
Tandem HSE offers you the possibility of hiring an independent external inspector for annual APQ inspections, as well as for the five-year reviews of tanks and metal pipes, including thickness measurement, and internal inspection of non-metallic tanks.
Keep in mind that the chemical products storage regulation affects the chemical industry but also any other type of industry in which chemical products are used or stored, even if only for cleaning and maintenance operations.
Custom solutions and products to comply with the current chemical products storage regulation.
We help you to put your storage for chemical products to the standards, or to adapt it so it passes the next mandatory revision. We can take care of all administrative details and ensure you that the installations can pass any inspection with flying colors.
We can provide you with different options of prefabricated storage systems, or build them based on the necessary dimensions. We can even take care of the design, if you wish.
