The SPPs, which are regulated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/eli\/es\/rd\/2007\/03\/23\/393\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Decree 393\/2007<\/a>, must also provide for the necessary coordination of internal preventive activity with the local civil protection public services.<\/p>\n<p>The self-protection plans must have the following elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identification and evaluation of the existing risks.<\/li>\n<li>Actions and measures to prevent and control those risks.<\/li>\n<li>Protection measures in case of accident, like the action plan in case of emergency.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation and update of the plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The self-protection plan is mandatory in the cases listed in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/buscar\/doc.php?id=BOE-A-2007-6237\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0RD 393\/2007<\/a>\u00a0and those specifically listed in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tandemhse.com\/en\/industrial-safety-consulting\/seveso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEVESO regulations (prevention of serious accidents)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a <strong>self-protection plan or SPP<\/strong>, the different risk scenarios that we can imagine are reflected and the guidelines to be followed to face those scenarios are established. A good self-protection plan should evaluate<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the origin of the risks;<\/li>\n<li>the causes that can provoke them;<\/li>\n<li>their consequences;<\/li>\n<li>how can we prevent them from occurring, and<\/li>\n<li>what to do to minimize the consequences in case the accident occurs?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <strong>self-protection plans<\/strong> have to be revised every 3 years (4 in the case of Catalonia).<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>SPP<\/strong> must be written and signed by a competent technician. It is necessary to follow the specifications included in <strong>Annex\u00a0II<\/strong> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/buscar\/doc.php?id=BOE-A-2007-6237\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Decree 393\/2007<\/a>, which details all the technical and material aspects that a self-protection plan must address. This annex is the basic guide for its writing.<\/p>\n<p>The self-protection plan must also include a real dissemination and implementation plan in the company. It should not be left alone in the documentary phase of it.<\/p>\n<p>Once the document has been prepared, an appropriate training and information strategy must be carried out so that the <strong>SPP<\/strong> is fully operational. In this sense, it should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Information to workers and users through talks, brochures and signage, etc.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/tandemhse.com\/en\/training-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Training<\/a>on how to act in case of emergencies. Emergency measures must be known throughout the company.
